ISCE Hearing loop scheme

ISCE assessment scheme for non-working hearing loop systems

Many surveys carried out by support organisations such as Action on Hearing Loss, report that hearing loops (often referred to as Audio Frequency Induction Loop Systems – AFILS), are frequently badly installed or maintained. This means that there is a need for special measures to bring these systems into working order. In order to facilitate this, the ISCE has created an Assessment Scheme to offer organisations a source of competent individuals and companies who can test and assess their hearing loops for correct operation and performance.  For any other hearing loop enquiries, such as installations, please go to the ISCE Register of Members.

ISCE Supporting Members and individual members of Fellow, Member, Senior Technician and Technician grades have joined this scheme and a link to their contact details is given below.  This information is also published elsewhere, with a notification that they will carry out an assessment of an unsatisfactory hearing loop system and provide a simple report in standard form.

If you require a hearing loop system testing, download the forms below and directly contact a suitable assessor from the list.

Having a correctly installed and operational Induction Loop system is important and regular checking is important.

ISCE members who are registered on the Hearing Loop Assessment Scheme, are competent and trained in the latest technique and practices and have either passed (not just attended) one ISCE AFILS training course, have evidence of three recent successful AFILS installations, with confirmation by the client of satisfaction, or are members of BSI committee EPL100–1 (the BS 7594 committee) or TC29 MT20 or WG22 (the IEC committees).

In order to operate the scheme as efficiently as possible, and to help to continuously improve it, please download these two forms and complete them.  It is important that you return the Results form to ISCE, so we can continue to monitor the high standards of our approved assessors.
