ISCE Regional meetings

Council encourages members to organize regional meetings, with a minimum of formality and maximum flexibility. However, because of outside influences, like the Government, there have to be a few guidelines and rules.

Publicity (most important): Send all the details (where, when, what about) to <tech@isce org uk> so your event can be advertised on the mailing list and the web site. You can, of course, put it on the mailing list yourself.

Time of day/week: Whatever suits you and the prospective participants at the time.

Venue: Maybe a local Supporting Member will make a room available, otherwise a room in a hotel or pub may be used. Some local authorities make Council building rooms available.

The most important point here is that any charges MUST be shared as an informal arrangement between friends. No member may ask for attendance fees on behalf of ISCE, because of VAT rules.

If you have a really red-hot subject and expect a big crowd, tell Ros and it can be made a 'HQ' event, so that Council may approve central funding and set an admission fee (as low as possible). If that happens, NO-ONE except the immediate organizer(s) can be admitted free. (VAT rules again).

Format: The format can be anything from an informal networking to a presentation with Power Point or a demonstration (preferably not of how to set fire to a pub!).

Topic: If it's not informal networking (a BOGSAT - bunch of guys sitting around talking), choose a specific theme and 'volunteer' people to talk about it, followed by an open discussion.

Report: Please have someone take notes (or even a recording) of the event and send Ros a text report (not the recording!) to go into the magazine. It need not be more than about 200 words, but more is OK as well. It's good to say (by name) who were there. If you make a recording (audio or AV) and it's of good quality, we may be able to put it on the web site.
