Principles of Networking

As more AV devices become network enabled, we need to ensure that we are up to speed on network technology.  By attending this course, you will learn about the underlying technologies that drive a network, how to connect devices to them and how to identify and overcome common problems.

You Will Learn:

• network types and technologies, their applications and limitations
• ethernet: the difference between switches and hubs, MAC addresses, full and half duplex
• TCP/IP; UDP and TCP, addressing, subnets and routing.
• network configuration: static vs DHCP, DNS, gateways and firewalls
• network troubleshooting: identifying and resolving common problems
• wireless networks: RF spectrum and channel overlap, SSID, authentication and encryption

Anyone involved in specifying or configuring network devices.
