Further details for each course are listed on this page. To register your interest in any of these training courses please follow the link to ‘Register Your Interest’, supply a few basic details and one of our course administrators will get in touch with you directly.

Design and Installation of hearing loop systems

Learn the best way to design and install correctly working hearing loop systems (HLS), ensuring compliance with appropriate Standards and Regulatory requirements (including the NEW EDITION of BS 7594, Disability Discrimination Act, IEC/EN 60118-4)

You will learn...

  • Types and applications of different loop – from simple desk to large multiple array
  • Special applications, designing low overspill loops, VA applications, etc
  • How to calculate and achieve IEC/EN60118–4 field strength
  • Cable types and correct size calculations
  • Ideal loop height and effect of height variation on power requirements
  • Interference effects of building metalwork and background and magnetic noise
  • Importance of input signals, including types and positioning of microphones, preferred frequency range, connection of TV/AV/computer signals, connection to main site PA
  • Potential input connection problems and how to avoid them – signal levels, balanced and unbalanced connections, avoiding earth loops
  • Outline of HLS testing, commissioning, maintenance and documentation.

Who Should Attend?

Everyone involved in specifying, designing or installing hearing loop systems – including engineers, system designers, estimators, consultants, and local authorities.

Measurement and Certification of hearing loop systems

Learn the latest and correct techniques for measuring hearing loop systems (HLS), how to meet the requirement of IEC/EN 60118-4 and gain a good understanding of what we should be measuring, where to measure and why.

You Will Learn...

  • What to measure, where to measure and why?
  • British/European Standards and Regulatory requirements
  • The importance of background noise, field strength and frequency response
  • Types, application and limitations of available test equipment
  • What test signal should be applied (level and bandwidth)
  • Measurement locations (ideal versus practical)
  • Effects of noise, building services
  • Essential HLS documentation and records

Who Should Attend?

Everyone involved in system design, installation, testing and maintenance of hearing loop systems including engineers, equipment manufacturers, local authorities and large HLS providers will benefit attending this course.

InfraRed Assistive Hearing Technology

A training webinar on using infrared technology for hearing assistance.

The webinar, presented by Daryl Dankert of Williams Sound gives an overview of the underlying technologies and examines when it is appropriate to use infrared rather than alternative technologies, such as FM and induction loop.

The majority of the session focuses on system design and deployment and ensures you will have the knowledge to be able to successfully specify infrared systems for hearing assistance purpose.

You Will Learn...

  • System Design & Specification

Who Should Attend?

Audio engineers, sound system designers and sound system sales personnel will benefit from attending this course.
